As October beckons, not one, but
two new shipments are
arriving from different sides
of the globe, and boy are we excited
by all the good stuff they contain!
It’s been a while since we talked
about Australia. We’ve been waiting.
We’ve been pining. And this month, our
wishes finally came true. Pinotphiles
rejoice! Vintage 2018 of the iconic Bass
Phillip wines will soon be
making its appearance. We can never
overstate the significance of this
collection, the last full vintage made
by the legendary vintner Phillip
Jones, who has now entered into
retirement.
For many months now, a number of you
have been asking about the
oh-so-lovable wines by Gentle Folk.
Finally, we can share the good news: Yes!
These colourful beauties from the
Adelaide Hills are almost here, yay
October.
From the other side of the globe,
our European shipment comprises a
wide-ranging selection of truly cool
wines from all corners of France.
First off: Champagne. The venerable Champagne
Jacques Lassaigne returns this
season complete with a refreshed list
of the domaine’s most beloved cuvées,
as well as some never-before-seen
unique cuvées. This Montgueux blanc de
blancs master is truly at the top of
his game. Do take note though: his
rare special cuvées come in
super-limited quantities, so keep your
eyes peeled for an exclusive offer
later this month.
More Beaujolais 2o19s are arriving
and this shipment contains one of our
most coveted names: Jean-Louis
Dutraive. The much-anticipated new
releases from his Famille Dutraive
portfolio as well as his Domaine
de la Grand’Cour will soon be
available to satisfy eager palates.
You’ll notice that we’ve added a new
section for the wines of the Sud-Ouest
(i.e., “Southwest”), and inaugurating
this exciting chapter are the dazzling
wines of Château Lestignac. Be
prepared to expand your vinous
horizons — this is thrilling stuff.
What’s a new shipment from France
without Burgundy? If you’re feeling
thirsty, then the much-beloved Chapuis
Frères wines by Romain Chapuis
may be just the quenchers you need.
This time around we’ve expanded the
portfolio offering with exciting new
appellations in the mix, plus this
collection will give you an early look
at the highly praised 2019 vintage in
Burgundy.
Meanwhile, out of his low-tech,
unassuming cellar in Saint-Aubin,
Pierre Fenals of Maison en Belles
Lies has crafted one of the
most outstanding sets of 2018
burgundies, across the board. These
are ultra-pure, ultra-precise,
ultra-delicious wines of unfathomable
energy. We see great things ahead for
this humble genius. Don’t say we
didn’t warn you.
This edition also features a few
small parcels for dedicated domaine
fans, for example Marcel Lapierre’s
2018 Morgons, Denis Bachelet’s
2017 Gevreys and the inimitable
northern Rhône sensations by Dard
& Ribo, among many others.
