August was an
action-packed month marked by new
winery introductions, and September
keeps up the momentum.
We talked about Japan last
month, and in this issue, we present
more beautiful wines from the land of
the rising sun. As we ride the wave of
the Japanese wine renaissance, it is
with much joy that we now add the
acclaimed Takeda Winery and Coco
Farm to our growing Japanese wine
list. That said, we are still not done,
so do expect more to come in the coming
months. We couldn’t be more excited.
We’ve got some new arrivals from the
other side of the world too.
The Auvergne wine region is home
to some of the most progressive
producers in France today, and we’re
delighted to share with you the exciting
new releases from the iconic Jean
Maupertuis as well as Vincent
Marie’s wildly delicious Domaine No
Control. Their wines — based on
Gamay, Syrah and Pinot Noir — convey an
inimitable expression that can come only
from the unique volcanic terroirs of
Auvergne. They are dangerously drinkable
yet unexpectedly complex.
From Burgundy, Oronce de Beler’s
iconic organic label La Maison
Romane returns with a collection
of superb 2018s, which includes his
rarely-seen Vosne-Romanée and
Chambolle-Musigny. We also welcome back
to our shelves the enchanting Chanterêves
from the hands of Tomoko Kuriyama and
Guillaume Bott, featuring a refreshed
and full lineup of their most excellent
vintage to date, 2018.
Hopping over to the spiritual home of
Gamay, check out La Derniere Goutte’s
2018s as well as the special releases
from Michel Guignier in our Beaujolais
section. These are wines that are rarely
exported, but really — they are too good
not to share with the rest of the world.
As for Champagne, it’s
imperative to keep some on hand at all
times. Not only is it the perfect way to
start an(y) evening, it is also an
eminently versatile partner for an array
of cuisines. If you’re running low on
your stash of bubblies, we have new
goodies in from some of our favourite
Champenois friends. Newly cleared from
customs are some coveted new
allocations: the impeccable champagnes
from rising star Etienne Calsac,
and the ultra-pure exemplars from the
tiny, highly sought-after Aube domaine,
Ruppert-Leroy. Don’t miss these
limited-release gems.
Since the beginning of the year we have
been actively offering some of the most
coveted names in Burgundy and their 2018
wines on a pre-arrival basis. Booking
these wsines prior to their eventual
arrival (either late this year or in the
first quarter of 2021) is the only way
to ensure you can get hold of these
precious wines. If you’ve inadvertently
missed some of these campaigns, worry
not. Starting with this September
edition, you’ll be able to peruse the
offerings at your leisure. Keep an eye
out for items marked “Pre-Arr”
and secure them at pre-arrival prices
too. Email sales@artisan-cellars.com
to place your order and/or to find out
when they’re expected to arrive.
Pre-arrival terms & conditions
apply.
Have fun perusing our wine list and
offers below, and do drop us an email at
sales@artisan-cellars.com
should you wish to inquire further or to
place an order.
As always, continue to stay safe and
drink good wines, everyone!

The first time we tasted the wines of Domaine Le Grain de

in the famous crus of Beaujolais, but
that hasn’t stopped him from producing
wines of stunning quality. These gems
are even greater treasures because
they’re so good, yet don’t cost a
